NOT TOO MANY FOLKS KNOW about South Fork, but those who do have been bringing their families here for generations. This is where their kids and grandkids learned how to land a trout, build a campfire, ride a snowmobile and ski downhill. It’s all about getting outdoors, enjoying the river, and over 1300 miles of trails that access the Rio Grande National Forest.
THE TOWN OF SOUTH FORK is fairly simple. There’s a gas station and general store that carries everything from groceries to fishing tackle and spare parts. There are a handful of restaurants and at least one café where you can still get breakfast for a dollar and change. You can count on getting to know your neighbors fairly well in a town where the deer and elk far outnumber the people. |
